Appointment of Alexandre Mérieux by the bioMérieux Board of Directors

At the meeting of the bioMérieux Board of Directors held on December 19, 2008, Alexandre Mérieux was appointed as “Directeur Général Délégué” of the Company. Stéphane Bancel continues to be responsible for all functions in his role as Chief Executive Officer and to chair the bioMérieux Management Committee.

Alexandre Mérieux, aged 34, is a member of the bioMérieux SA Board of Directors since April 16, 2004. A graduate of HEC Montreal Business School, he held positions in France and the United States at Silliker Group Corporation before joining the Industrial Microbiology division of bioMérieux in 2005. Alexandre Mérieux will continue in his role as Corporate Vice President of Industrial Microbiology.
